outside

We've spent a lot of time outside our house this summer and fall. It is nice to have space and things to play with out there that make for a different environment from the house.

One thing we did this summer was to plant a bean tent. We got the idea from a book Anya loves about a little girl named Vera. Our bean tent didn't end up being near as cool or successful as Vera's, but it still was a fun little place to visit.

Anya really started figuring out how to pedal a bike near the end of the summer. She still does much better going in the downhill direction of the sidewalk, but she's getting it.

Watch out...here's our biker gang.

We raked leaves this year (yes, I know we should have been doing this many years, but we just never seem to get around to it) and even had mini rakes that Jeanie brought out from her kindergarten teacher days. Anya had fun for a couple minutes raking and jumping, but then the mosquitoes attacked and it suddenly became no fun at all, so we went inside.
