tired

welcome back, loyal readers. i know that my last post was utterly pathetic...a little pity party i had to throw for myself. and i regret having left my blog on that note for over a month now. but the time has passed and honestly, i'm surprised to still see "this week in purgatory" at the top of the blog entries. have i really not written? surely, this isn't true. alas, all my eloquent and thought-provoking entries have been stuck in my head for the past month. they've been wanting to break-out onto the keyboard, but it just hasn't happened. so, what have we been up to...

we've attended two weddings since i last wrote. these experiences were full of emotions for me as a parent and one of the hot topics of blog entries swimming around in my head and maybe will never find themselves being written down.

we took anya and evan camping. yes, i was seven months pregnant and we went camping for one night up in the mountains. we owe it all to anya. it was on her list (yes, we really had one) of all the things she wanted to do this summer and she reminded us that we still hadn't done it. when she brought it up, we realized that the following weekend was our only opportunity until i was at least eight months pregnant. so, we somehow managed to pull it all off and we actually had a wonderful time. hopefully this will materialize into a blog entry with photos sometime soon.

we have taken 900 photos in the last month. yes, i owe you some of them and have been getting the requests loud and clear...but with 900 photos it's hard to even just pick a couple or pick a hundred or even just want to look at them in the first place. but they're coming. keep nagging.

i have grown huge. photos? no, not yet. maybe i'll have anya take one of me when she wakes up from her nap. or steve when he gets home...but i always forget.

i have had a couple rounds of contractions that didn't end up being anything serious, but still gave us too much of a scare for our comfort. nothing appears to be wrong with the pregnancy. and nothing is wrong with me...i'm just so tired all the time. my standard response is that i'm tired of being pregnant, but that i'm really not ready to have a baby.

we are gearing up for anya's first official day of preschool on sept. 9th. yes, i realize this is another topic i've been meaning to blog about forever. we just made a paper chain to tear off daily links this past week until her first day. she wanted to make chain until the new baby was born, but i had to keep explaining that we just don't have the kind of control, so we decided on preschool instead. and bad timing...i'm due sept. 15th...less than a week after anya's start of school. i'm really, really hoping that they don't all happen at the same time. in fact, i'm saying this now, but i'd be fine with going to my due date or even beyond, just to spread things out. i don't want our family to go through all those transitions at the same time. but obviously, it isn't up to me.

we've had two weekends of out-of-town visitors. both visits were a lot of fun, but would have been a lot more fun had i not been pregnant.

we are set to leave again this week for our last trip of the summer (year?). we're going to a family reunion in illinois for my mom's side of the family.

i'm tired. did i mention that? i'm so tired. our house is a disaster. seriously, you have to rearrange the kitchen to pour a sippy cup of milk. i can't remember the last time i cleaned our master bathroom. i'm constantly stepping on marbles (yes, marbles...one thing i am ordinarily super anal about having cleaned up and put away two seconds after they are done being played with), blocks, piles of blankets, suitcases, dirty laundry intermingled with clean laundry, grocery sacks still waiting to be unpacked, popsicle sticks (hundreds of them), kleenex, shoes, toys, toys, and more toys. i need a shovel or more protective footwear. and some help.

phew, i got through that blog entry. i've made a list of potential other blog entries and nobody has woken up from their nap yet. and i already made dinner before writing this blog entry (yes, that is perhaps the most shocking thing i'm writing...steve, if you're reading this...don't faint). and now someone is waking up. game over!

If I was there I'd help pick up! (But then most things would probably end up in the WRONG spots!) You're almost there! Keep your chin up, Lara.
