lettuce eat

We haven't mentioned our garden lately, but it seems to be doing pretty well so far. We have four peppers, three tomatoes, one squash, one pumpkin, two sunflowers, and four lettuce plants in the ground and they all seem to be doing well so far. We have several other things still going as seeds, but aren't sure what else we'll end up putting in the ground. We have had a lot of hail around here lately and lots of others in town have had their young gardens and other plants destroyed, but we've been lucky so far to not get much damage.

To me the most amazing thing has been the lettuce. We bought it on a whim at the garden center and seriously did nothing except slap it in the ground. My only regret is that we didn't start harvesting earlier cause I'm not sure how long its season will last. But so far we've had two batches from the garden and it was so amazingly tasty and just looked perfect. Anya had a great time picking it, carrying it inside and washing it all up. Of course, she didn't eat it, but it was still a pretty cool experience. I just can not get over how easy it was. Hopefully some of the other stuff will end up great, too, cause now I'm excited.

It looks so green and yummy! Has the part we harvested grown back?
