broken?

We took Evan to the doctor today after he has been having some problems standing on his legs this week. The first time I remember noticing anything was Wednesday evening. Basically since then, every time I have taken him out of his high chair or carseat, he is unable to walk or put weight on his right foot. At first, it seemed strange, but wasn't too alarming as I figured his leg probably went to sleep while he was sitting in his high chair too long. And it always goes away after a little while and throughout the rest of the day he seems fine and happy. But it just kept happening. And then last night, Steve was being silly and carrying Evan upside down and after that Evan wouldn't do anything with his leg for quite a while. We eventually just put him to bed since he seemed fine otherwise. But this morning we decided to call the youth clinic. They have Saturday hours if you are lucky to call at the right time and we did.

We told the doctor the whole story and she was puzzled. Nothing alarming showed up in her exam, but she said it is possible that he has a small fracture somewhere in his leg. She sent us for x-rays at the hospital and told us to give him Motrin every six hours. They will be calling us today or tomorrow morning to tell us what the x-rays say, if anything. And then if he doesn't get better by Monday or Tuesday, we're supposed to bring him back in. They said they often just put a child in this situation in a cast, just because a small fracture might not show up in an x-ray and it might make him more comfortable. Or they would probably do bloodwork to determine if he has some sort of infection first.

So, right now we're just waiting to see what we find out. We're not super worried, but something is definitely not normal, so hopefully we'll get some answers soon.

That's kind of stressful that you don't know what is happening! I hope all turns out well.

I HATE HATE how they make you wait for test results. It is the worse thing ever. I'm sure all is good though. Keep us updated!

Yikes! Being a parent is so stressful! And these things always get worse on the weekends.
