good day

today was an exceptionally good day. evan slept a little longer than usual, giving us all a little extra sleep this morning. we weren't rushing off anywhere, so breakfast felt easier. after saying goodbye to daddy, we made playdough, got dressed and then played playdough for two hours. i alternated between playing with them, feeding nora, and preparing our crockpot dinner. i got done what i needed to do, even though i was "interrupted" a hundred times.

then we left the house to run one errand, to pick up something at a consignment store, and come right back home. i made it in the store and back out with no major events and people were actually nice to me and my large amount of kids. i've been finding lately that the times out in public when people seem to think my huge family is cute are rare compared to the times when people are mildly annoyed...and that's even during times when we're just passing through and nobody is even causing any trouble. so, it was a nice change to go somewhere with all three kids and be pleasantly surprised by the kindness and smiles of strangers.

we made it back home, even with nora screaming in the car. it made me grateful that she really hasn't done this much at all. and we made it back home without a crying fit from her older sister who was upset that we weren't getting lunch at a restaurant. lately, anything that doesn't go remotely anya's way results in a huge crying/whining fit. huge...and long lasting. but somehow we avoided it today.

after an amazingly easy lunch at home, i let anya and evan play for a little bit so i could wash some dishes. they went down for their naps with no issues and i even had a few moments to myself where all three kids were asleep at the same time. i had a nice chat with my sister.

anya woke up in a better mood than usual and nora was back asleep, so i had a good time with anya making cornbread muffins. evan woke up from his nap and didn't wake up crying like he has been doing for several days in a row. he just came out and was his happy self. anya and evan had some sibling fun while i unloaded the dishwasher and nora dozed in the swing.

steve came home and our crockpot dinner was all ready to go. anya and evan ate their dinner with no problem, even though it was just pb&j sandwiches and cornbread muffins.

and nobody cried or threw a fit at bedtime. and now i'm blogging. i could be blogging about so many things, but i just felt like taking the time to stop and remember how nice the day was.
