June 21, 2010

The kids' rooms are actually the most organized and finished rooms in the house. They have been this way for a while because we put top priority on getting their space set up first. Plus, it was a lot easier to be sure what was going into each room, so there weren't as many decisions to be made.

Here is Anya and Nora's room.

Anya loves her new bed set and for the first week or so she would make her bed right away when she got up in the morning and after napping. It was really cute how much pride she took in her own space. Her interest in making the bed has waned, but she still loves her cozy space. Her only disappointment about having a new room was that her walls are just white. She says she misses her red walls even though she doesn't really like the color red anymore. :-)

And here is Evan's room. Evan went from sleeping on a crib mattress on the floor in our old house to a queen sized bed! We were going to get him a twin bed when we moved into this house, but we had an extra queen mattress and when we saw how it fit in the room, we just decided to keep it.

Check out Evan's face in the above photo and him peeking out of the closet below.

I love this photo below...Evan is super proud of his bedroom, too. The only negative thing is that he refuses to go to sleep without his covers, which include two fleece blankets and this down comforter. Thank goodness we do have air conditioning, but that's entirely too much to sleep under. So if I remember I sneak back in his room after he's asleep and uncover him.

And back to Nora and Anya's room for another look at Nora's corner. She doesn't sleep here yet, but hopefully will some day!

But it is a fun place to play!

And a fun place to learn how to stand up. And to be entertained.

Anya and Evan love their new rooms and with just a few exceptions, they are sleeping amazingly well in the new house. They both still take naps every afternoon which is wonderful for everyone! And now that they are separated, they each get the sleep they need without keeping each other awake or waking each other up. I loved the idea of them sharing a room and it was a little sad to be splitting them up, but now that it's working so well, I have no regrets and am thankful we have the space to do it like this.
